KU teachers demand arrest of Dr Wahid's killers within 15 days

KARACHI: The Teachers' Association of the University of Karachi on Thursday demanded of the government to arrest the killers of Dr Wahidur Rahman within 15 days.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, the teachers also demanded the formation of a judicial commission and a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the attack.
The teachers warned that if Dr Wahid's assailants were not apprehended within 15 days, they would close all universities across the country among taking other actions.
The teachers also demanded a payment of Rs50 million as compensation for Dr Wahid's heirs.
Assailants on Wednesday shot dead Dr Wahidur Rehman, an assistant professor of KU, in Karachi's Federal B area locality. Dr Wahid, also known as Yasir Rizvi, was an instructor at the Karachi University's Mass Communication department.
He was killed when four unidentified attackers riding two motorcycles opened fire on his car. Dr Wahid had also worked as a journalist for many years and was a relatively new staffer at the varsity.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the killing and sought a report into the incident.
